September 30 was sunny and warm; a perfect day for the Saint Vincent’s Day Home Annual Champagne Brunch, this year honoring special guest, Sister Ann Maureen Murphy. The largest crowd ever to attend turned out to offer Sister Ann Maureen their congratulations and reminisce over a career that has spanned a lifetime of service to the Day Home and its mission.

Scott’s Seafood of Oakland and Walnut Creek provided the delicious food and champagne for toasting while Board President Carol Corrigan and her team whipped up her signature Gin Fizzes, a crowd favorite.

The program included songs sung by a group of Day Home children, then a lovely rendition of Wind Beneath my Wings sung by Program Director Jennifer Youngblood, accompanied by Board President Carol Corrigan and Events Committee member Katie O’Leary. Board member Vivian O’Neal and the Day Home Children presented Sister Ann Maureen with “A Dedicated Life” Memory Book filled with photos and tributes. Special dedications included the Family Learning Center made by Carol Corrigan, Board President and Eric Beegun, Board VP and the Diocesan Medal of Honor presented by Bishop John Cummins of the Diocese of Oakland.

A big thank you to the hardworking Board, Committee members and staff who donated so many hours of their time to ensure that Sister Ann Maureen would have an unforgettable day.
