We have worked with the non-profit organization The Link-to-Children (TLC) for a number of years. Annually, TLC provide us with an intern who provides one-on-one intervention with a child who may be having social-emotional difficulties due to a variety of reasons.
Like the other services at the Day Home, a teacher can recommend the child for the program, or a parent can share his concerns and request that their child experience play therapy to meet a need.
The intern observes the child in the classroom and meets with the teachers to ensure the child’s needs are being met in the classroom setting or to discuss strategies that will meet the needs of the child. The therapist also meets with the child’s parents to share progress, concerns, etc.
This program also offers trainings for staff and parents based on topics that relate to the well being of staff and children.
