This holiday season we are hosting a virtual gift card and book drive to support families’ winter needs. This is a wonderful family or community activity that brings the joy of the season to all who participate.
Deadline Extended! Oct. 1 – Dec. 8, 2021
Our Holiday Drive is starting earlier this year! To best support families’ individual needs, and to ensure continued safety during the pandemic, our holiday drive will be a virtual gift card and book drive! We’re asking our amazing supporters to stay home, shop for gift cards and/or books, and send the items to our Holiday Team. 
We’ll distribute all of the gifts on December 16! This will also give families ample time to shop for their holiday meals and those special items on their children’s wish lists. While this may feel less celebratory as a holiday shopper, we appreciate your support for the health and capacity of our community.
Support a Day Home Family in three ways
Option 1: Make a gift online
Do you have limited time to shop, but would still love to support a Day Home Family? Make a donation online, and we’ll purchase gift cards and books for you!
Option 2: Pick out some awesome books
Select your favorite children’s books and send them our way! You can ship them in the mail or deliver them to Saint Vincent’s Day Home at 1086 8th Street, Oakland, CA 94607. We’ll find the perfect family match and deliver them by December 8. If you would like some book suggestions, visit our wish list here – SVDH Book Wish List.
Please keep an awareness of the cultural diversity of our children and families when purchasing books – thank you! We believe it is critically important for children to see themselves reflected in the books they read. If this is new and you need some ideas, please give us a call.
Option 3: Share the gift of choice – Send a gift card to a Day Home Family
Select a gift card for a Day Home Family. You can deliver it directly to us or ship it in the mail to: SVDH Holiday Team, 1086 8th Street, Oakland, CA 94607. We’ll match the gift card to a family based on their wish list.

We recognize that many individuals may not feel comfortable shopping in stores or dropping gifts off at the Day Home. To make our gift drive ‘COVID-friendly’ you may:
- Shop online and send/ship items directly to us! Please address items to:

- Drop items off “contact-free”!
- Come to 1086 8th Street, Oakland, CA 94607, and call 510-832-8324 when you arrive. We will pick up your gifts and take them inside.
We ask that your gifts be dropped off at Saint Vincent’s Day Home no later than Wednesday, December 8, 2021, by 5:00 PM. The Day Home is open between 7:00 am and 5:30 pm Monday to Friday to receive your gifts.
