About Us

Founded in 1911, Saint Vincent’s Day Home is Alameda County’s oldest and largest nonprofit preschool. Open year-round, the Day Home serves over 200 children between the ages of two- and six-years-old with a full-day early learning program and supportive services for families. Almost all of our families qualify for state-subsidized preschool through the California Department of Education. Our teachers and staff are a diverse, collaborative set of individuals aligned towards a collective goal–to provide all children with a quality, equitable early-learning experience.

About Our Team

We are a culturally rich work family with deep West Oakland roots.

  • Over 90% of our staff and 99% of the students identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Color.
  • Over 14 languages are spoken by Day Home families and staff.

The Day Home is committed to innovation, we embrace change and evolve our programs and practices to address the current conditions and needs of our children and families. Additionally, we approach education as a matter of social justice.
