We love hearing from Day Home alumni. Here is a story that shows the power of the love, care, and nurturing families find at Saint Vincent’s Day Home.
I remember riding by Saint Vincent’s Day Home on my bike with my son, Bodhi, riding on the back of my seat. I would tell him that one day, that would be his school. I had no idea how it would come to be. It was just a dream.
I was working two jobs and had to quit my second job to be able to watch my son. Saint Vincent’s helped me learn how to parent my son. They helped me obtain the resources that we needed. They helped find me a job at the Cathedral Christ of Light so that I could earn a living wage.
Without Saint Vincent’s Day Home, I do not believe my son would have flourished.
They provided full meals for my son, without which Bodhi would not have had enough to eat. Without Saint Vincent’s Day Home, I do not believe my son would have flourished.
Bodhi still talks about his amazing teachers and all the wonderful experiences he had. My whole message is that the Day Home brought forth hope for my family and provided so much when I did not know where to turn. I could have crumbled, but I did not thanks to the love, hope, and support I received in my time of need.
The Day Home gave us the hope that we needed, or, that I needed to be able to believe in myself to raise a child.

Today, Bodhi is attending St. Mary’s College in Moraga. He is the first in his family to go to college.
