Hello, my name is Sofia Cortez, and it is both an honor and a privilege to support your child’s development in the Caterpillar classroom. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Adolescent Development with an emphasis on Young Children and Families. I also possess a Site Supervisor Permit and have completed the necessary coursework to pursue a Director’s Permit. Over the years, I have volunteered and taught at both for-profit and non-profit institutions, as well as laboratory schools.
My approach to teaching is holistic, focusing on supporting children’s growth in all areas. I firmly believe that we are all lifelong learners, and I am passionate about facilitating inquiry-based learning and advocating for children’s needs. In addition to my work in early childhood education, I enjoy producing and working in cinematography for corporate and non-profit organizations that align with meaningful missions.
Outside of my professional life, I love spending quality time with my family, traveling, hiking with my Siberian Husky, and enjoying hobbies like sewing, gardening, cooking, brewing kombucha, playing drums, dancing, practicing yoga and meditation, and creating art in various media, including ceramics.
